I like having pets for Xander most of the time. Its when the three dachshunds and himself decide to get crazy and have a game of chase that I am not so sure…yikes!
I can see that. I grew up with pets & loving animals so it was never any question of wanting the same for my kids. What’s funny is that while I was pregnant I was REALLY worried about Chaucer. He was always my “crochety old man” of a cat (even though he’s actually the second youngest). I was terrified that he’d have behavioral issues, so as soon as I found out I was pregnant I started carrying a doll around the house with me at all times. I’d sit on the couch & wouldn’t let him sit on the doll but I’d sit next to him & pet him. I really think it must have helped prepare him because he’s just so wonderful with Cloe. None of the cats has even so much as looked at her funny let alone hissed or raised a paw. I feel so lucky about that because I don’t think I could bear having to choose between my furry & human children.
PS: I ALWAYS wanted a dachshund as a kid, I’m now officially jealous of Xander :)
PPS: Also, this is random, but you’re now the second person I know to have named their son Xander for Xander Harris. Although my friend here also named his second son Merrick for the Donald Southerland character in the BTVS movie!
